A Message from Mayor Bill Henfey:
Dear Friends,
Welcome to North Wildwood! Here, you'll find everything you need to make the most of your leisure time, whether you're here year-round, or for a brief shore getaway. We have first-class accommodations, eateries to satisfy every culinary choice and budget, a family-friendly boardwalk and shopping district, beautiful, safe, free beaches that were voted among the Best Top 10 in New Jersey!
Our Calendar of Events is packed with events the whole family will love, from the Captain Kidd Pirate's Day, to numerous car shows and fishing tournaments. Talk about variety! We also host the North Wildwood Beach Writers' Conference. What better place to find inspiration than the beach!
North Wildwood has been called "The Parade Capital of New Jersey," and with good reason. Throughout the season, we have parades of Mummers String Bands, Fancy Brigades, and New Jersey Firefighters. A favorite for over 100 years is our Baby Parade. We even have a Pooch Parade, along with the Independence Day Parade on the Fourth of July.
Again this year, we'll host the Italian American Festival, the sensational New Jersey State Barbecue Championship and Anglesea Blues Festival, and our world-famous Irish Fall Festival. This will be the second year for our Maritime Festival at historic Hereford Inlet Lighthouse, featuring all things nautical: music, displays from maritime museums, and vendors selling up market goods.
"Concerts under the Stars" (free!), is back again in 2011 with the best line-up ever. The schedule will be posted on our "Concerts" page very soon.
Want to stay in shape (or get there)? North Wildwood also offers recreational events and activities for any age, like Beach Yoga, Beach Aerobics, Buckets by the Beach Basketball Camp, and surf contests. If you prefer to watch the competition, we have marathons, lifeguard races, and the annual Tri/Du Run the Wildwoods.
Whatever your interests, we know you'll find your kind of entertaining diversions in North Wildwood. On behalf of everyone in our City, I hope you enjoy every minute!
Sincerely,
Bill Henfey
Mayor, North Wildwood, NJ
