As a conduit to distribute information the North Wildwood Office of Emergency Management utilizes North Wildwood's local AM emergency radio station - 1640AM for the latest up to date information. During major events the NWOEM updates the information on regular basis and also has the capability to broadcast live and to give updates of breaking events. During non-emergency periods 1640AM broadcasts tourism and other information of local interest. The Office of Emergency Management operates a telephone notification service for tidal flooding, in conjunction with the emergency flood warning sirens. To register for the flood notification please go to http://www.northwildwood.com/departments/cityclerk/cityclerk.html and click on the "city clerk forms" tab and then select "flood warning application". Fill out the application and turn it in to the City Clerk's office and you will be added to the list. To differentiate the flood siren from the fire siren note that the flood siren sounds for 30 seconds on two minutes off, this repeats three times. Also you can turn to 1640AM where you will receive message whether the siren sounding is a flood or fire siren.
