The North Wildwood Fire Department is a combination career and volunteer department consisting of 3 stations. The career division operates out of fire headquarters located at 400 New Jersey Avenue along with the Fire Prevention and Housing Division. There are two volunteer stations which are the Anglesea Volunteer Fire Company stationed at 2nd. And New Jersey Avenues, and the North Wildwood Volunteer Fire Company stationed at 15th.and Central Avenues. The Department is under the direction of the Municipal Fire Chief with a volunteer Battalion Chief in command of each Volunteer Company.

The Career Division is comprised of 12 members who work a three-platoon, "24/48 hour work schedule in the "off-season" and a four-platoon 10/14 work schedule during the 6 month tourism season. Each work platoon consists of a Captain and a minimum of three firefighter/EMT's. The on-duty strength is increased to 6 members during week-nights and for the entire week-end period due to the population increase. Career personnel are all certified to New Jersey State EMT standards. Each member is also required to be certified to the level of Firefighter 2, and each Captain is certified as a New Jersey State Fire Instructor. Members are also certified in vehicle extrication, high angle/rope rescue technician, and open water rescue among other various levels of certification and training. The Career Division also provides the Emergency Medical Services for the community. There are currently 20 part-time paid Firefighter/EMT's on the Department roster.

There are approximately 40 volunteer firefighters currently on the roles between both companies Members of both volunteer companies are also trained to the same standards and various specialty disciplines. Both career and volunteer members work together to provide the highest level of service in protecting the residents and visitors of the City of North Wildwood. The volunteer companies provide various functions and programs through-out the year to support the community. Both divisions are active in fire prevention and education. The department's inventory includes a 75' 2000gpm Quint, a 105' 1500gpm quint, two front-line pumpers and one reserve pumper, two front-line ambulances and one reserve ambulance, specialty vehicles used for tidal flooding and special operations, and three marine units equipped for firefighting and water rescue purposes.

The fire department is committed to improving training and service to the community and will continue to move forward in providing the absolute best possible protection that our city deserves. Hiring Criteria Temporary Seasonal Firefighter / EMT-B

SUMMER JOBS! Get your application

1. High School Diploma or equivalency.

2. Able to communicate in the English Language

3. Valid NJ driver's license.

4. Completed and passed Firefighter 1 training (NPFA)

5. Completed a minimum of 3 years of active fire service.

6. Meets NJ Certification for Incident Management (I-200), Hazardous Materials Operations Level, Minimum- Basic Rope Rescue Technician, Certification in Vehicle Extrication

7. Current CPR Certification. (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)

8. Current Certification with minimum of three years experience as an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B) issued or recognized by the New Jersey Department of Health & Senior Services.

9. Received medical coverage to Be fit-tested for SCBA

10. Be available to work both Day shift (08:00-18:00 hrs) and Night shift (18:00 to 08:00 hrs) during the week and on weekends.

11. Be available for training between the hours of 08:00 to 18:00 hours

12. Residents of North Wildwood will be given preference in regard to hiring over non-residents provided they meet all of the above criteria.
