South Jersey Gas Company Infrastructure Improvements

South Jersey Gas is currently completing natural gas utility infrastructure improvements on Surf Avenue between 13th and 15th avenues. In addition, South Jersey Gas Company is nearing completion of their massive infrastructure improvement project on the west side of the City. Minor work remains on portions of roadways located between Delaware and New Jersey avenues from 22nd to 26th avenues. All work should be completed before the end of this year.

9) 19th Avenue Emergency Sanitary Sewer Repair: COMPLETED June 2010The City is currently replacing the sanitary sewer main on East 19th Avenue between Atlantic and Surf avenues. The work is being completed by Perna Finnigan, Inc. on an emergency basis. The work is limited to replacement of the sanitary sewer main, reconnection of sanitary sewer services and restoration of the roadway where disturbed. The roadway restoration will be limited to the middle 20 feet of the roadway (10' on each side of the centerline). The utility work is scheduled for completion on or about June 15, 2010 and all work, including restoration, is scheduled for completion on June 18, 2010.

Replacement of the Boardwalk between 15th and 16th Avenues

All work, with the exception of a few minor punch list items, has been completed. Boardwalk is open to pedestrians and bikes and will be open to vehicles in about two weeks.


City Upgrades, May 11, 2010

The Buildings, Parks, and Grounds Department, under Superintendent Doug Ford, reports on their project to rebuild sections of the lower boardwalk destroyed by the winter storms.

The lower boardwalk (or alternative boardwalk) provides a place for bike riding after 11 a.m., when it's not allowed on the boardwalk proper.

So far, five sections have been completed, so people can ride their bikes from 15th to 20th avenues.

The remainder will be completed by Memorial Day Weekend, weather permitting.
